Great News! DAS Trolling Committee Restarts SOTY Tournament Schedule

Post by Last Dime »

The DAS Trolling Committee held a ZOOM Meeting on Thurs., June 4 and restarted the SOTY Tournament Schedule with Harbor Beach on the original scheduled date of Sat., June 13. Their will be NO Skipper’s meeting and entry will be by a PDF form e-mailed to all DAS members (with E-mail on file in DAS Club Membership Roll) on Friday, June 5. If you don’t receive an e-mailed pdf form by the end of day June 5, I have attached one below for you to download.

The Skipper can download the 2020 HB Sign-UP.pdf file and copy as 2020 HB Sign-Up_VS.pdf to make a unique file. Use a 2-letter code for your Boat Name such as _VS for Vickie’s Seacret or _CH for Channing. In the copied file, the Skipper will complete certain required fields on the form and return that .pdf to Bob Feisel at as soon as possible but no later than Sat. morning 6:00 am, June 13. The required fields are: Boat Name; Skipper’s Name; Skipper’s Cell Phone No.; at least one Crew Member( additional crew members should be filled in also if known); a “Y” or “N” indicated for the Big Fish Pool and Initials of the Skipper. If a “Y” is indicated with Initials completed, skipper is obligated to pay $20 to Port Captain Joe Von Grabe at the tournament. You can call Bob Feisel at (248)765-2504 if you have problems or questions.

The tournament will start at 7:00 am. A roll call will be done on Channel 72 at 8:00 am to confirm that all Skippers signed up are present. If you miss the Roll Call you can call Port Captain Joe Von Grabe on his mobile at (586)945-4334. Fish Calls will be at 9:00 am and 11:00 am on Channel 72. We will pull lines at 1:00 pm. A weigh-in will be held at a location announced at the Roll Call at 2:00 pm. You must be present at the weigh-in by this time.

There is no fee for this tournament and no luncheon will be served.

We are urging all to wear face masks to the weigh-in. Crews should stay in individual groups and exercise social distancing by keeping at least 6 ft. from others.

The Harbor Beach Municipal Marina is closed for renovations and there are no docks, no bathrooms and no fuel dock is available. The boat launches are open with docks in place and their use is currently free.We do not know about the use of the fish cleaning station. However, those in Port Sanilac and Lexington should be in full use by June 10.

For those who are interested in spending a night or two at Harbor Beach, I will be checking on the status of Offshore Marina in Harbor Beach. I will report with an updated post as soon as possible. I also do not know the status of any nearby motels. You can check on our website on the SOTY Tournament page at the Harbor Beach port info link for their phones numbers and give them a call.

This is the only SOTY tournament scheduled so far and we are “Playing it by Ear” as we see how this emergence from the pandemic unfolds. We will be trying to stay to the remainder of the original 2020 SOTY tournament schedule and announce those as soon as possible.
