Lake Erie Perch Outing September 15th

Post by Aquarius » Wed Aug 29, 2018 3:43 am

Hello fishermen! September 15th there will be a Perch outing for DAS anglers at Sterling State Park in Monroe. If you’ll be attending, please call or text Gaspare Aragona at 248 330-1774 before 6:00 am so he can get a tentative head count for lunch. Fish-ing starts 6 AM, and everyone will pull lines at 1 PM. . A picnic and weigh-in will be at 2:00 PM . Look for our group on the grass adjacent to the ramps. Check our website and Facebook page for updates on this event.
If your attending please get your worms and minnows from Jeff's Bait shop at 1756 N Dixie Hwy, Monroe Mi 48162 (Ph 734 289 4910). Jeff’s is adjacent to the park entrance and he has been a very generous spon-sor to our Special Friends event over the years. Be sure to let Jeff know you are a DAS member, and thank him for his continued sup-port.
The winner of this event is determined by best 5 perch by weight. There is a modest entry fee $5.00 and optional big fish pool $5.00. Participants are on their honor to keep their catch segregated from others on the boat. Help us keep these events fun. Don’t forget, there's still road construction on I- 75, so check for a good route before you go.

Another great DAS outing
7 boats with 21 eager fisherman descended on lake Erie for a morning of perch fishing.
We were meet by a humid foggy start and NE winds 4-7 mph.
Paul Gjeldum and I rendezvoused at Jeff's Bait Shop at 6:00 am. We got our 10 dz shiners and were on our way.
e-anchored in 28 FOW east of Fermi and only moved about 50 ft all morning.
At the 2:00 weigh-in, just about everyone had 5 fish to weigh.
Paul and I ended with 40 total. Most were over 9 inch with a few over 10 inch.
Port Captain Gaspare Aragona whipped up a excellent lunch with brats on fresh steamed buns.
