More Good News! AOTY St. Clair Walleye Trolling Outing is a Go!

Post by Last Dime »

Saturday June 20, 2020

At the St. Clair Boat Harbor, St. Clair, MI website: stclairboatharbor.com

Fishing will be from 6:00 am. till 12:00 noon, weigh in will be at 1:00 pm.
We have a pavilion reserved South of the main office (same as last year).

This will be an individual event. We will be weighing your 5 Biggest fish. We will have a big fish pool and a smallest (legal 13") fish pool. Fish pools are $5 for each pool.

There will be NO SKIPPERS MEETING. Captains only need to call in but Every person on the boat must be signed in. Call Rob Pinskey 810-543-3191. Leave a clear message with your information. You can call on Friday evening or Saturday morning before 6:00 am. CALL IN, give Boat name, skippers name, name of each person fishing, and which fish pools each person will be entering. A verbal entry will enter you, NO backing out or changing your mind once fishing begins at 6:00 am. This is a WALLEYE outing; no other fish will count.

Big fish pools MUST be paid when you arrive after fishing. Once again, everyone MUST enter before 6:00 am. Saturday. EVERYONE that is entered MUST pay fish pool money ASAP upon arriving for weigh in.

At this time of year, the primary method of fishing will be "Dragging Crawlers" using a bottom bouncer sinker and a crawler harness. I am sure if you search YouTube for Bottom bouncing for Detroit River or St. Clair River Walleyes you will find everything you need to know. A few people may still be vertical jigging. You can also call me if you have questions on rigging.

We will not be having a luncheon, but we will have soft drinks, water, and snacks.

We are urging all to wear face masks to the weigh-in. Crews should stay in individual groups and exercise social distancing by keeping at least 6 ft. from others.

Just a few notes:

1) This is a full-service Marina, DO NOT TIE UP IN SLIPS unless you have a slip booked (call marina).

2) Daily Launch fees are $7.00 fill out a card and pay fees, box located on pole in parking lot near launch.

3) Keep each person’s fish separated/identified for weigh in purposes.

4) If you are not familiar with this port, you have to pass under the S. Riverside Ave. (Main St.) bridge. The water level is high and if you have a high/tall boat you may have to wait for the bridge to open. Call the marina to find out the bridge hours of operation. I have no problem passing under with an 18' Lund, just do not leave your rods or nets stick up or you might have a problem.

5) The fish cleaning station has been closed so far this season due to the COVID-19 Executive Orders. I do not know when/if it will be open before the 20th.

6) The boat ramp gets VERY backed up around noon, keep this in mind when you are trying to get in for weigh in!

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon! Rob Pinskey

Crossing the Canadian border to fish in Ontario is considered "non-essential travel" according to the current Travel Ban being enforced by United States and Canadian federal authorities. First and foremost, the intention of all DAS Tournaments and Outings is to follow all fishing rules and regulations. Therefore, fishing in Canadian waters for this Sat., June 20's St Clair. AOTY Outing is not permitted. The DAS BOD is thankful for your cooperation!
