Got a Big Turkey on Tuesday, April 24, 2018

I hunted in Hillsdale County and almost got a nice long beard on Monday. He came to within 60 yards before turning away. So close. Tuesday I moved to a different spot on the property where I had a pop-up blind to hunt in the expected rain, and after hearing a few gobbles from the roosts early, I saw...

Re: usernames

Don, I realize some handles are boat names. As I quit fishing tournaments over 20 years ago there is not much interaction with them. (Still think we should stop them and just have outings.) I did do Special People for its first 25 years. What's wrong with having posters identified by name? Steve

I would like to have all users use their real names and not some 'handle' that cannot id them. Why should posters on our site have the need to have their identity hidden. I don't know who many post authors are: Bad Dog I think is Tom Gorguze. Big MaMa,Tennesseekick31, Nightmoves etc. I also have had...

Wheatley July 31

On Monday, July 31, I took Tom Moores to Wheatley for the calm day. We took a 2 man limit of Steelhead and walleye, fished from 8-1. It took us a while to find the hot spot which was very hot, about 8.6 miles from port in 64-66 fow about a 100 heading out from port. All on riggers down from 38-55. T...

Re: Lake Michigan Chinook vs Lake Trout plants

Getting a speaker from Great Lakes Salmon Initiative would be good. I looked at the link you provided and they bring up many interesting thoughts, including that many of the private king plants in Ontario waters of Lake Huron, which are not fin clipped, probably migrate to L Michigan and are counted...

Re: Lake Michigan Chinook vs Lake Trout plants

Adam, That chart and statistics can be interpreted differently. One reason hatchery chinook aren't caught as much is the more than 80% cuts in plants. And as I posted, before you posted this again, is the unreliability of natural reproduction. I hope you don't want your fishery to depend upon that. ...

Port Burwell perch

On Thursday, July 6, I took Joel Garinger and another friend to Port Burwell, Ontario. It is a 150 mile drive from Detroit on the north shore of Lake Erie. We launched at Otter Creek Marina where we bought minnows & ice. Based on previous reports and the info at the launch we headed east on this nic...

I got lines in at the crack of 8:30 & had one eye within 10 minutes. I was between the grey apts & Metro Beach in 14.5 fow. I fished 3 hours alone and kept 3 eyes: 13", 15" 18", and 1 9" perch. Released 2 perch, 1 rock bass, a silver bass and a nice largemouth. It took 10 minutes to fight and boat ...
