Mitchell's Bay Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019

Blaise, RJ, and I went perch fishing on Mitchell's Bay today. The ice is still 8'' to 10" thick on the Bay but getting soft. The shoreline is holding up to the rain and warm temps better than I expected. There are some areas you want to avoid so go slow and keep your head on a swivel (walking or rid...

Lake Erie Perch 10/10/2018

Aquarius, Channing, and a friend of Aquarius tried for perch out from Sterling State Park again today. No pictures with this post (too lazy). The catch was OK, not great but still a lot of fun. We came home with 60 perch and we were a little picky about the size, there were some throwbacks that may ...

Special Friends I 75 South Detour

With the ongoing two year construction project going on at the Rouge River bridge in Detroit, MDOT suggests the following detour: To bypass the Rouge River construction, take West I 94 to South I 275 which will take you to South I 75. For Toledo Beach Marina use exit 9 off S. I 75 (S. Otter Creek Rd...

Victorinox Flexible Knife

I used my Victorinox flexible knife today for the first time. WOW!! What a knife, I love it. I have always cleaned Walleye with the electric knife. Not anymore. This thing is easier to use and cleans up well. However, be careful with it, it could cut to the bone before you know you are being cut. Dan

Re: Who's Going To Lexington?

I was in Lexington on Thursday to launch. Wind was blowing waves over the top of the rock wall so no launch on Thursday. I'm in Lakeport so I looked the lake over this morning and it is beautiful. We are a go! Come on up. The restrooms were open on Thursday but the fish cleaning station was closed. ...

St Clair River Walleye 4/10/18

RJ and I have been jigging the St. Clair River just out from the Black River in Port Huron for about 6 weeks now. It has not always been easy with the high wind, ice flows, and freezing temperature but it has been fun and successful. We got out again on April 10 and it looks like the ice flows are g...

Lexington 2018 Tournament

I have been trying to contact the Lexington Harbor for some time without success. Calling the listed harbor phone number has not been answered and the State system says tough luck "that harbor will not be open until May 1". Today I was able to contact a man named Dennis at the harbor and he told me ...
